How to Turn off Active Status on Instagram

Last Updated January 31, 2022 By Subhash D Leave a Comment

Sometimes all you want to do is scroll through beautiful photos, but your pals will interrupt you with their dumb gags and weird questions. Among the most crucial aspects of social engagements on Instagram is anonymity. You might have felt obligated to keep your internet actions hidden from others or specific users.

On Insta, there are two primary ways for turning off active status. The first option is to use the Instagram-provided official technique. The second option is to conceal your active status. In this article, we’ll go through ways to secure confidentiality while sending direct messages to Instagram users.

Besides, we’ll show you how to turn off your Instagram active status so you don’t feel obligated to respond straight away. Take your time, and respond to messages only when you’re in the mood to communicate. The world fades away as you scroll through your feed.

Show activity by default is set on. Besides, when you turn it on, other users you follow and individuals you contact will be able to see when you were last active on Instagram. They can also view if you are now active. So, if you’d rather not divulge the details you can disable the feature by following some simple steps.

It’s worth noting that if you disable it, you won’t be able to see the status of these other users. Also, note that you can’t turn off active status on your phone but leave it on for your computer or tablet because this setting applies to all devices logged into your account.

Only in Direct and in the app is your activity status visible. Users will see a green circle near your profile picture and the words Active now if you’re online. The circle and the words can only be seen by persons with whom you have a DM chat.

How to Switch off your Instagram Activity Status

Let’s start with how to hide your last seen timestamp and switch off active status on Instagram. Both the app and a web browser can be used to disable your activity status.

In Your Smartphone’s App

  1. On your phone, open the Instagram app and log in.
  2. Go to your profile.
  3. Select the menu icon.
  4. Select settings.
  5. Go to the Activity Status section of the Privacy menu.
  6. To make it grey, tap the toggle.

Using a Browser on a Computer:

  1. Select Edit Profile and choose privacy and security.
  2. Uncheck the box placed right beside activity status.

No one can now see when you were last seen on Instagram or when you were online. If you wish to see your activity status again, you can hit the same toggle or uncheck the box in the browser.

Endnote

There are other indicators that might let users know you are online, that is why it is necessary to turn off the activity status. It is not a difficult task, follow these simple steps and get rid of unwanted attention.
