Most of us look for port forwarding settings for particular DVRs and routers. In order to watch live CCTV on the internet from any part of the world, you need to do some settings in the router. Port forwarding is a complex process which aims at forwarding the router to DVR’s port. If you have got a static IP from your Internet service provider, you can easily configure DVR with the simple method, I am going to share with you.
Step1- Connections of DVR
Connect the DVR to Router with a network cable and connect a display cable between DVR and monitor.
Step-2 DVR Configuration
Switch on the DVR, it will ask for login credentials. Input the username and password as per the manual of DVR. Most of the DVRs come with admin as username and a blank password.
Now from the menu, go to Setup>System setup> Network Setup
Now fill in the following fields.
TCP/IP type: Static
IP address: 192.168.1.XX
“Note: Please make sure the IP address to assign to DVR is not already given to other computer or device in the network.”
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 (Depends on the IP address class)
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
You can check the gateway address by opening command prompt and type ipconfig/all.
DNS1: __. __. __. __
DNS2: __. __. __. __
You can easily find the DNS of your ISP by using the command ipconfig/all in command prompt.
Click SAVE and that’s all.
STEP-3 Router Settings
Open the router, login with the username and password. The common username/password combinations are admin/admin or admin/password
Now from the menu, open Advanced setup and then open NAT. Now click DMZ
In DMZ settings, make sure the DMZ is enabled by selecting the appropriate radio button.
Now in the DMZ Host IP address, fill the IP address of the DVR, you assigned it earlier.
Now save the settings and restart the router.
Finally, open the browser and type the static IP address in the browser, it will open the CCTV camera screen.
