Mozilla with Voice Assistance: Project Scout

Last Updated December 21, 2022 By Subhash D Leave a Comment

In the world of smart gadgets, instructing and controlling the apps with voice is not a fad but rather a necessity for the users. With the development of AI, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing, voice control is quickly becoming a reality in different areas of computing and gadgets.

It’s already been adopted and implemented by Amazon, Google, and Apple in their devices. Alexa and Siri are the smart voice assistants that have been appreciated by the smart users of today.  When your hands are full of multiple tasks, voice control is your dependable assistant to search for a topic, call a friend, order food or look for a movie in a theatre near you.

Till now Mozilla has been lacking in this. So, to make up for the lost time and much-needed assistance to its devoted users, Mozilla is planning to start Project Scout. It is an innovative project that will add voice-controlling functionality to its widely downloaded browser.

In Mozilla’s top-level meeting it has recently been decided to go ahead with project Scout to implement voice-enabled searching and browsing. This project is still in its infancy but a good start for Mozilla to venture into the field in which its browser contenders have already been very successful.

What’s the current status?

The news has been shared with Cnet and specified that Mozilla is now ready to implement the voice functionality in their browser to “explore browsing and consuming content with voice”

Currently, this project is working on defining the architecture and key components to make Scout a voice platform. They are also focusing on understanding the challenges of the new system in the current scenario as well find a workaround for the limitations of available platforms to fulfill the expectations of the millions of Mozilla fans.

Right now as per the official statement released with Cnet, the experimentation has already been started. The people will come to know more about this project when Mozilla is ready with some level of development at their end. This has already generated a great sense of excitement among Mozilla users who have been seriously missing this support.

What are we expecting from Scout?

Looking at the history of Mozilla Browser, we are damn sure that the accessibility of the latest browser will make it a great option for various browsing and searching activities. But, we also expect a great deal of effortlessly fluent commands and great responsiveness of the browser!!

We also hope that Mozilla gives a considerable amount of thought to the versatility of its voice-based assistant with different accents and languages. Protection of user information and securing privacy will be important factors for its success. The privacy must also include the protection against sharing of search habits and personal preferences of the users. It should be totally out of the reach of private players who may be contributing to this project directly or indirectly. Recent breaches of privacy on certain social media platforms should be a strict guideline for Mozilla.

So, here we are looking ahead to another well-known browser getting the backing of a voice assistant. It will only be a matter of a few more months before we can see how Scout beats its competitors!!
