The crime is not increasing just on roads but online too. These days the popular networking sites like Facebook are becoming a source to hack your data. Certainly, you store different types of data and content on your account on Facebook, right? Do you take any measures to ensure that the stuff is safe?

Well, have you ever thought about how to stop hackers to steal your identity details on Facebook? This post is going to acquaint you with some points that might be helpful for you to secure your data and identity. After all, you have no idea how hackers are exploiting the data that is on the website.

In case you have ever reviewed the Facebook Privacy Settings of your account, you would come across settings of “Who can look me up?” or the option like “Who can look up making use of phone number you provided?” which is by default available to “Everyone“. The point is if you make small changes in these settings you would dodge huge threats.

Privacy Settings

  • Set the Phone Number Privacy on your Facebook to “Only Me”
  • Then next you have to go to Your Profile > About > Contact and Basic Info > then just click on Your Mobile Phone Number.
  • Once you are there then you have to click that gear icon just under the phone number, and pick “Only Me“.
  • Similarly, there is another change that is needed in Privacy settings. You have to change the settings of “Who can look me up? Or that of “Who can look up using the phone number you have given therein” to “Friends” or “Only Me“. It is crucial because you have to take a step to prevent invasion in your account details.

If you think that these hackers would not want your data then you are mistaken. You have no idea how badly they can use your data and that too without your knowledge. They can sell your information like phone numbers and email id to companies and make money. There are many false ways and practices that are prevalent these days and many people are steeped in them.  Even your simple information regarding your class can be used in a negative way by such filthy minds of hackers.

Do you think that the information that you are sharing on your Facebook timeline and profile is limited to you? Well, you have no idea how your information might be getting stolen. If you have posted anything, make sure that you check its privacy settings. You should always keep the settings to ‘friends only’. If you think that it is okay to pick the settings option of ‘friends of friends’, then that is risky. You cannot vouch for your friends’ friends. What if they are notorious, cunning and disreputable? They can steal your information and data for their needs.
