Just like other professions, like coding or designing, where you need a professional laptop, traders who want to trade on laptops need to look for certain specifications. Most of the traders who used desktops are now moving on to laptops for better mobility. Whether you trade cryptocurrencies or invest in Forex, you need to analyze the market trends and study various graphs to make some vital investment decisions. Most day traders need to work on laptops for the whole trading session during the day, so they do not want any kind of overheating in the laptops. Considering the requirements of the traders and trading students, I have chosen the ten best laptops that meet all the required parameters for the best trading experience.
Features to Look for in a Trading Laptop
- Screen Size. Since you need to open and view the live market and view various charts, you need a minimum of 15 15-inch screens. So you should avoid 13-inch or 14-inch laptops.
- Hard disk Type. When it comes to choosing between SATA(mechanical) and SSD(electronics) storage devices, I would recommend anyone to go for an SSD drive since it does not have any mechanical parts, and the chances of hard disk crashes are minimal. SSDs are faster and more reliable compared to SATA hard disks.
- Battery Backup. For traders who like to trade on the go, they need a battery backup of eight hours or more; otherwise, a backup of a minimum of 4 hours is sufficient.
- CPU and GPU. Unless you want to run heavy games, you do not need a dedicated graphics controller. On-board integrated graphics is sufficient to run trading apps. Similar is the case with the Central processing unit, you do not need an Intel Xeon or an i7 processor. I would recommend a minimum of an i3 processor, though, since it is capable of handling multitasking.
- RAM. Again, RAM or internal memory determines how fast the application opens. A 4GB memory is enough for a trader.
- Design. This is one of the vital features to look for. For day trading, you need a robust laptop that has sufficient heat dissipation vents and keeps the laptop cool. I have shortlisted the laptops that do not overheat.
- Price. To run web-trading applications, you do not need a high-priced laptop when you can trade on a $500 laptop without any lags.
