How much does it cost to build a parallax website?

Last Updated June 10, 2021 By Subhash D Leave a Comment

For quite a long time, sites with the so-called parallax effect have been very popular. If you haven’t heard about parallax yet and have no idea what it is, in a nutshell, it can be described as an effect that allows you to scroll different layers in different directions or at different speeds. Parallax does a great job of creating optical depth by capturing and retaining the attention of the site visitor. Nowadays parallax sites example can be found on the Internet in order to get a common impression.

In web design, the easiest way to achieve the parallax effect is using the jQuery plugin. However, this comes with some inconvenience. This plugin most often contributes to problems with the scroll-ing of objects. JavaScript has to handle tons of events for scrolling to be smooth (and that entails display problems; it’s worth thinking carefully before using it). In order for the layers to move, and at the same time move smoothly, you need to carry out a lot of calculations and recalculations regarding the placement of objects and elements, and this, in turn, forces you to carry out a huge amount of manipulations.

To get the parallax effect, background images must be placed in different elements. These elements must additionally be defined as background-attachment: fixed. By using background-attachment, the behavior and position of any background image can be changed.

The main interest is scrolling, which usually implies that the position of the image is fixed relative to its element. This is nothing fantastically new, we all know how it works. The user scrolls the site, elements move up and down, and background images also move up and down.

How will you maintain the site?

When it comes to site management, there are two options: do it yourself or pay someone to do it. Each option has its own pros and cons.

Whichever platform you choose, you will need to update your themes and plugins regularly. CMS and website builders usually have built-in functionality that allows you to update with just a few clicks. However, self-written sites developed from scratch will have to be updated manually.

And, if you have no experience in web development, you most likely delegate this task to a developer. Developer services cost differently. If you contact the studio, the price will be higher.

How much does it cost

The cost of app design is always individual question. The site is made up of the composition and amount of work to be done, as well as the cost of tools.

Scope of work. To create any site, you need to go through about one path. We looked at a dozen estimates that web studios use – in detail they are different, but in general they are similar.

It turned out that, on average, the process consists of four stages: design, development, publication on the Internet, preparation and placement of content. Sometimes the estimate includes promotion, but we will leave that out of the brackets.

To sum up

Scope of work. It depends on the tasks of the site, how many pages there will be on it, and what kind they will be. The more of them and the more non-standard functionality they have, the more expensive the development will be. Compare a landing page and an online store, and you will understand why the price of their development differs.

You can build a house yourself, by log or brick; you can entrust the difficult work to the builders, and finish the rest alone; you can buy blocks and collect them with friends; you can generally entrust everything to a construction company. The price will be different. So is the site: you can make it manually, almost free; you can order design and development from freelancers; you can order the entire site from the web studio. Let’s consider each option in a little more detail.
