How to Reinstall Windows 10 Without Losing Any Data

Last Updated June 15, 2022 By Subhash D 3 Comments

Microsoft keeps on trying to make Windows 10 a more robust operating system by offering frequent updates with many inbuilt security and recovery tools. If you have a Windows machine and if you happen to face OS errors, Microsoft provides you all the needed support so that you need not take your PC or laptop to a service shop. You can fix most of the errors by reinstalling Windows from scratch all by yourself. Whether you are a home user or have this machine at your workplace doesn’t matter. You can independently do re-installation very easily.

To support at a core level, most OEM laptops offer a recovery button to reset Windows. But doing so will reset the system to factory default settings and all your data will be lost. You will not wish to lose your crucial data at any cost. So, it is recommended that you follow the following steps to reinstall windows 10 without losing your precious data.

Why do You Need to Reinstall Windows 10?

There are many reasons that may force you to reinstall windows 10 OS afresh. You may face any of these causes to take the last resort of reinstalling Windows.

  • Recently a virus attack corrupted system files
  • Apps are not running
  • Windows 10 is not able to update itself
  • A recent windows 10 update de-stabilized the OS
  • Slow booting of your machine
  • Start Menu is not functioning
  • Not sure why the Windows is giving error messages.
IMPORTANT: Although the methods mentioned to reinstall Windows 10 in this article will preserve your data still it is recommended to backup all the important data to any external drive.

Methods to Reinstall Windows 10

The simplest of the two methods is resetting the PC or Laptop. This option will reinstall windows 10 while allowing you an option to keep all your personal files and data.
