How to Restore Lost Files in Windows 7

Sometimes we need to restore lost files in windows 7 to the earlier time when they were working correctly. Some of the reasons for losing files are accidental deletion of files and folders, virus attacks or corruption of files.

The abnormal behavior of files can be restored back. Thanks to Windows inbuilt backup and restore utility which creates automatic restore points whenever you install some new software, new patches or windows updates are installed. Apart from this, you can also create restore points manually from the system protection utility. Let us find ourselves easy steps to restore deleted files in windows 7 yourself.

Steps to restore lost files in windows 7

Step1. Go to start=>All programs=>Maintenance=>Backup and Restore

Step 2: Now click on restore my files.

Step 3: Now click on Browse for folders if you want to restore lost folder in windows 7.

Step 4: Now you can see the list of backup files.

Step 5: In order to restore any lost files, you have to click the “ Browse for files” button.

Step 6: The following screen shows and asks you where you want to restore your lost files/folders. The first option is to restore the files to their original location which means that the file will be restored at the location where it was deleted. The second option is to save the restored file at an alternate location, it can be any other partition, external drive, or network location.

“Important: It is recommended to restore lost files at a location other than the original location since it may over-write your other file in the same name, you have saved. “
