Not only does my applications are running faster but the windows boot-up time has improved a lot. I am sharing these 100 % tested steps with you to enjoy the windows 10 experience in a better way.
Steps to Speed up Windows 10 and Make PC Boot Faster
Stop resource-consuming processes
When you are working on your PC, apart from the application you are working on, there are many applications that are running in the background and are consuming various resources of the PC or laptop. You need to find that application and end its processing. To do so, you have to open Task manager by pressing the Ctrl+Alt+del buttons on the keyboard. Once you open it, you will find the names of applications running and the percentage of different resources used.
You need to find the application that is consuming the maximum amount of resources, be it a hard disk, RAM or CPU and after selecting the App from the list you can press End task to terminate its execution.
Delete temporary Files
There are.TMP files that are generated whenever you are working on a PC so whether you are surfing the internet or creating a new document file or interacting on Skype, these .tmp files keep on getting created and saved in a folder on the hard disk.
You need to delete these files on a regular basis to fine-tune the speed of your PC, in case it is running slow. To do so, you have to press the Win+R buttons on the keyboard and the RUN screen will open. Here, type %temp% and press OK. Now, the folder containing temporary files will open and just delete all these files.
“Important: Do not forget to restart the PC after deleting temporary files.”
Uninstall unwanted programs
The various programs are installed on the hard disk drive. If there is a lot of data on the hard disk, reading and writing data from the hard disk drive will take a longer time and make your system sluggish. There are applications installed on our PC that are no longer in use and might be eating up HDD space. Sometimes there are many applications that get installed, without our knowledge, along with the tool or App we are downloading from the internet. To delete such programs, you need to open the control panel and then select Programs and Features. From this screen, you can uninstall the unused programs one by one.
Disk Cleanup
This is another windows inbuilt tool that can be utilized to clean up the hard disk. To find this tool, just type disk cleanup in search or alternatively open My Computer/This PC and from the top menu, select Manage and then Disk clean button. It is important to select the drive/partition in which windows and programs are installed. So in most cases, it is the C drive after selecting the C drive you can select the unwanted items from the list and press the disk clean-up button.
Change the Visual effects setting
By default, a lot of animations keep on running in the background which we never know about. These animations eat up the system’s resources and often slow down our windows and application processing. You can disable these animations easily from the windows inbuilt utility.
To disable visual effects, right-click on My Computer, and click properties. Now from the left sidebar, select advanced system settings and you will move to the system properties window. From here select settings under the performance tab. You will see here that by default, “Adjust for best appearance is selected”. In order to speed up your slow PC, you need to select “Adjust for best performance”.
Optimize web-browser
While using web browsers either intentionally or unintentionally, you install add-ons or extensions in your browser that often slow down the overall windows 10 operating speed. To disable to delete unwanted extensions, you need to select extensions from more tools options (google chrome). To disable the extension, you just have to uncheck the “enable” button and if you want to delete it permanently, you need to click on the delete icon.
Scan with antivirus
Another reason for your Windows10-based PC or laptop getting slow is a virus or malware attack. If you already have some anti-virus software installed, scan your system thoroughly. If do not have yet installed any anti-virus software, you can scan your PC with inbuilt windows defender software. Apart from this, there are many free anti-virus and anti-malware software available. You need to scan the system on regular basis to prevent the PC from malware, phishing, or virus attacks.

Reset windows 10
In case none of the above-mentioned steps work in order to speed up windows 10 boot time, it’s time to reset your PC. You can do this by either restoring your windows settings from an already created restore point or you can restore the windows from the inbuilt windows utility. To do so, click on the start button, and select update and security. From the left menu select recovery and then under the Reset this PC click get-started button. The recovery option will not delete any of your files but all the installed programs and current windows settings will be wiped out.
Apart from all these steps, if you ever face any sudden dampening in the speed of your PC, rebooting your system is not a bad option before adopting any of the above tips to speed up Windows10-based PC.
