Generally, there are two types of resolutions available in mid-range monitors. They are – 1080p or 1440p. But, Which one is better? Let’s talk about this in this article. There is no doubt that in the comparison between 1080p vs 1440p resolutions, the 1440p resolution will surely win. As the 1440p displays have double the number of pixels as compared to 1080p resolutions.
And, as we know that if the number of pixels is higher, then you will get better picture quality with more sharpness and picture accuracy.
If you have to choose the same model monitor that comes with two resolutions, one with 1080p and the second variant with higher resolutions ( maybe consider it 1440p ) then you should always go with the higher resolutions.
If you have a decent budget, there are many 1440p 144hz monitors available that you can consider purchasing without compromising the picture quality.
However, things do not end here. You should keep reading this article to understand more.
1080p vs 1440p: How To Choose The Perfect Resolution For Yourself
So, It is quite important to understand what type of monitor you should need.
This means, If you are purchasing a 24 Inches 4K monitor, then it is pointless because of the same picture quality and sharpness 24 inches 1080p monitor is capable of delivering.
32 inches 1440p resolution monitor will deliver the same sharpness in the picture as a 24 inches 1080p monitor does.
It is suggested that, If you are going to purchase a monitor with less than 27 inches and you are on a tight budget, then you should need to go with a full HD 1080p monitor.
If you need a giant big screen monitor of 27 inches or more, you should go with a 1440p or higher pixels resolution monitor.
A 1080p offers you five times better picture quality as compared to a 720p display which is a huge improvement in picture sharpness.
Whereas 1440p offers you almost double the improvement in picture quality as compared to 1080p.
A 1080p display requires less storage and CPU power to display the image as there are half of the total pixels as compared to 1440p and the CPU will take less time to render the picture to display it.
So, If your CPU is not powerful enough, you might see a lag if you are using a higher resolution display, that is 1440p or more.

One point about the anti-aliasing point at the end:
Having 1440p (or any other resolution) doesn’t get you anti-aliasing.
Anti-aliasing means getting rid of sharp edges when down-scaling from a higher to a lower resolution.
