Android-based smartphones offer a unique feature of showing notifications of various app contents even when the phone is locked. It is a very useful feature as far as the ease of peeping into the notification while on the go or in case you are busy with some important task. It allows you to instantly make up your mind to decide whether or not to unlock the phone to read the complete message content. Every feature has its own pros and cons and Android notifications are no exception when it comes to displaying sensitive information even when the phone is locked. At times, your locked phone might be in some other’s hand and you are in no mood to share some of your information or notifications with them. Thanks to Android settings, which allows you to control the way notifications appear on the lock screen.
Steps to Manage Android Notifications
Option-1 Control All Notifications
Go to settings and then under the Device heading, tap on sound & notification.
In the next screen, navigate to the Notification heading and tap on When the device is Locked. Here you will find three settings as explained below.
- Show all notification content. This is a default setting that allows the display of all notifications even when the phone is in a locked condition.
- Hide sensitive Notification Content. In case you do not want any notification to be seen on the locked screen, you can opt for this setting. You can view the notifications only when you unlock the phone with your security key or a pattern.
- Don’t show notifications at all. As the setting says, selecting this option will block all the notifications in both locked as well as unlocked conditions.
Option-2 Manage App-wise Notifications
The above settings are applicable for all the apps and if you want to block or manage notifications from a particular app, you can do so by tapping on App Notification settings.
Select any app for which want to control notifications, and tap on it to open various settings. You can do various settings here like blocking all the notifications from this app or just hiding sensitive information on the lock screen and much more

Working only when you have pin or pattern lock, not showing this option when swipe to unlock selected.
