Sony’s New Slim PS5 with a Removable Disc Drive Coming in November

Last Updated October 25, 2023 By Subhash D Leave a Comment

PS5 with the disc drive and PS5 Digital Edition are all set to hit the market in November. These sleek devices will most likely wipe out the existing stock of PS5. They are priced $50 higher than the previous model.

This new model of PS5 is designed to come with 1TB of internal storage and a detachable disc drive.

This device is referred to as the PS5 “Slim”. It is built slimmer and shorter than the existing model and is likely to replace the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition. The new model of PS5 is 30 percent less in terms of volume and 24 percent lighter. The new PS5 model also has a bulge at the side that is meant for the disc drive. You can remove and replace the disc with a side panel when required.

This new model will be priced at $499.99, which includes the drive, which is slightly higher than that of PS5 Digital Edition, which is priced at $449.99.

The device has four cover panels. The top portion of the device is glossy, and the bottom remains matte. On both sides of the drive, there are slits, and the front has dual USB-C and USB-A ports. The new PS5 also comes with a horizontal stand. You can purchase a vertical stand separately that is priced at $29.99; it is no longer included in the package.

The upcoming models of PS5 are all set to be rolled out in the US at selected retailers in November. Interested people can also haul the product from Sony’s PlayStation Direct site, where it is priced at $449.99 without a drive and $499.99 with a drive. Once the stock of the current PS5 model has been exhausted, the new PS5 will be the only model available in the market.
