6 Web Conferencing Applications with Pros and Cons

Last Updated September 3, 2020 By Subhash D Leave a Comment

Web conferencing is one of the most effective means of running the business of a start-up, self-employed worker, or even an entrepreneur. The advantages of good web conferencing software to minimize legwork are inevitable.

However, we compromise when we tend to lessen the cost of a full version application and replace it with a freeware.

Free web conferencing software could provide you with a feature to host or join an online meeting through video chatting; however, it has some prohibitions and limitations in terms of the tenure of a subscription.

Although, as per your work type and priorities of your job, you can still choose to go with some free application for web conferencing. It is not always free is the worst!

Below we have mentioned some of the most useful and industry class web conferencing solutions of this contemporary era.

Reviews of Top Web conferencing Tools

Uberconference

Uberconferencing is one of the highly preferred among the corporates because of the lucrative additional features of this application. This application offers you screen sharing, voice transcription, hold music, call recording, and up to 100 participants per call. Thereby, this application works well for those who are teaching online.

However, there is a limitation of participants in the free version; it allows only up to 10 members. However, the free version has almost all the functionalities of the premium one.

The paid version application does not require a PIN to join or initiate a conference call, which you would not get in the free version. Furthermore, it also offers an unlimited amount of conference calls per month if you pay for it.

The major drawback of the free version of this application is you would not be able to continue a call after 45 minutes, and it does not support any international phone number.

Things You May Like Things You May Not Like
Phone numbers are available for various locations A requirement of PIN num may annoy you in the free version.
All the conferences can be recorded easily The free account doesn’t support international numbers
Screen sharing functionality through calls The free version is prohibited up to ten participants only!
Availability of mobile version

Intermedia AnyMeeting

The primitive version was popular as Freebiner. The trial version of this application allows you to access all the unlimited features without any intervention for up to 14 days. Previously they used to provide unlimited access to ad-based Freebiner; however, now they have moved to subscription-based service.

Now they have two types of subscription plans one is light and another one pro. Regardless of the plan type, you can host a video conference up to 200 people through this application. There are various functionalities offered by this application, like screen sharing, in-meeting conversation, VoIP/PSTN calls, and an unlimited hosting of conferences.

However, the paid version offers you some extra utilities, including meeting recording on real-time, take making, feature to upload presentations, and it provides your co-workers to access your mouse and keyboard for a greater collaboration during a meeting.

If you are a host, you must have the application installed on your device, but people who only join they do not have to install it.

Things You May Like Things You May Not Like
The desktop and phone version of an application The limitation of the trial period
The annotation capability along with screen sharing The basic application only allows four participants
You will have custom meeting URLs for every plan You can have the meeting recording feature only on the expensive plan

MikoGo

Likewise, the previous one, this application also offers you a trial period of up to 14 days. This application also allows you to add twenty five participants while hosting any meeting or conference. MikoGo has all the essential features to become one of the most useful web conferencing means for any sort of user.

The host could easily control the color and screen quality as per their need even to minimize the data utilization. Likewise, all the popular web meeting applications on MikoGo, you can also share record a meeting, share the screen, and even you have the liberty of pausing the screen sharing as per requirement. Additionally, on this application, you can even switch between users.

MikoGo’s one major drawback is the number of maximum participants; it allows up to 25 participants maximum while hosting a meeting. However, the standard plan is the worst because it only allows one participant per session. Here it is inferior to all the other mentions of today’s list.

Skype

This application is perhaps the most popular and old among all the contemporary applications of this genre. Unlike others, Skype provides many additional features, including online free calling, real-time text conversion mechanism, HD audio, and video sharing, land phone calling, SMS service, etc.

In this application, the subscription plan is also a bit different, here you pay-as-you-go. On Skype to host a conference, you just have to host a video call among your colleagues. Thence you can share the screen and send required documents during a conference.

Likewise, MikoGo, here you can host a call only up to 10 participants, which could be a genuine discomfort of working through this application. However, this application has its kind of advantages when it comes to making international calls.

Just for a monthly fee, you can make an unlimited amount of calls from Skype. Besides, you have the liberty of choosing the pay-as-you-go option if you do not like the monthly subscription plans.

Further it has some useful collaboration features for its clients including screen sharing and whiteboarding.

The zoom has a unique feature for its clients, which is the virtual background creation mechanism, which could be very useful during work from home like situation.

The premium subscription plan includes all the useful facilities like up to 500 meeting participants, cloud call recording service, custom email links, and URLs, company promotion, etc. However, the major drawback is the time limit of conferencing up to 40 minutes while meeting multiple participants.
