Almost everyone uses bookmarks in their browser so that they don’t have to go to a long history before you arrive on a certain site. Bookmarks allow the users to go directly to the saved bookmarks. There is only one issue with the bookmarks that you can’t rely on bookmarks every time because it will only work on Google Chrome. When you switch to any other browser, they don’t carry over. For example., if you are using a mobile or a laptop which doesn’t have a chrome browser then you have to save your bookmarks all over again.
Google Chrome allows its users to save and export bookmarks in a separate file or a new browser. This trick is going to be discussed in this article so that you can save and export your favourite bookmarks to the new browser you have just started using.
Export Bookmarks from Chrome.
Step 1. Open Google Chrome.
Step 2. On the top right corner of the computer screen, you have to click on three dotted vertical icon which will open a drop-down menu giving you several options.
Step 3. From these drop-down options, you have to click on “bookmarks“. When you click on it, this will open up a new list of options.
Step 4. Click on “Bookmark Manager” now. Bookmark Manager will be opened in a new tab.
Step 5. Open bookmarks menu and click on the three dotted icons on the top right corner of the screen in the blue banner. A drop-down menu will show up.
Just make sure you have to click the icon which is on the right side of the blue banner. If you click on the grey section or the one which is next to an individual bookmark, it will not give you the options that you need.
Step 6. From the drop-down menu, click on “Export Bookmarks“. If you don’t see this option, you have clicked on the wrong icon. Check and try it again.
Step 7. Once you click on “Export Bookmarks“, you need to give a name to the file and save it. Select a location in your computer where you want to save it and click on the “save” option in the bottom right corner of the window.
Now, Bookmarks are exported, the next thing we want to do is to import bookmarks into the browser you want.
Note: “Importing Bookmarks is also easy and to do so, you just have to do the following steps in the right way”.
Step 1. Open Firefox and click on the library button and select “bookmarks” from there. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select “show all bookmarks“.
Step 2. After that, from the pop-up box in front of you, click the option to back up the data so that you can import it to the website you want.
Step 3. Next, the import window will open up and now you have to choose “chrome” and then click on “Next“.
Step 4. Firefox will then give you the list from which you have to choose those items which should be imported. Once you have selected all the items, click on “Next“.
Step 5. Cookies are the small amount of information by the websites that stores all your data when you login into a particular website.
Step 6. Click on the Finish after you have selected all the items you want to import. Once it is done, you can navigate the imported bookmarks in the file which is named as “from google chrome” which you can find in Firefox browser “bookmarks toolbar“.
How to Import Bookmarks in Microsoft Edge
It is very easy to import bookmarks directly from any other browser. If you want to import bookmarks from HTML files, it is not possible to do so. If other browsers are there on your computer like internet explorer or google chrome, you can directly import bookmarks from these browsers to Microsoft edge. Follow the steps below to import your favourite bookmarks.
Step 1. Open Microsoft edge browser and click on three dotted icon to open up the options. Click “settings” from the drop-down menu.
Step 2. You will see an option to import your favourites from your favourite browser. After clicking on that option, you will the list of browsers from which you want to import bookmarks. Select the browser and after a few seconds, you will find bookmarks in the “Microsoft edge“.
