How to Customize Air Pods’ Double Tap Gestures

Last Updated February 9, 2025 By Subhash D Leave a Comment

Apple’s wireless earbuds which are also called Air Pods have been in high demand since their release. The main advantage of using Air Pods (2nd gen) is that it is wireless which is convenient to use. It pairs quickly with any of your Apple devices and the sound of the phone calls and songs is utmost clear.

You need to pair your iPhone with AirPods. To do so you just need to press the setup button that is located on the backside of the charging case. You need to make sure the Bluetooth is ON and just have to tap the “ Connect” icon when prompted. After you connect the AirPods to a device associated with your iCloud device, it will automatically recognize other devices connected to it like Apple Watch, iPods, Macs, and the Apple Watch.

Air Pods’ Double Tap Gestures.

The all-new Air Pods now come up with “hey Siri functionality”. It provides alternative functions for Air Pods:

•    Play/pause

•    Next track

•    Previous track

•    Siri

•    Off

If you love to listen to music and podcasts, it is the best way that you can choose your gestures according to your needs. You can choose different options available for both of your Air Pods.

To set your Air Pods, double tap the function, open the Air Pod case, or put one Air Pod in your ear and go to settings> Bluetooth > your Air Pods and tap the “I” right next to your Air Pods name. Locate the double-tap location and tap harder than what you think is necessary. Choose which function you want for both the Air Pods and enjoy.

Some people are not able to double tap on the right location, so some of the users suggest tapping on the back of your ear just above the lobe while Air Pods are into your ears for better results.

There is another great feature of Air Pods which offers you an option of announcing the calls while you are using Air Pods. You just have to tap settings > phone. The very first option under the calls section is announced calls and normally it is set to “never”. You can change it to have Siri announce who is calling. Siri announces the caller’s name every time someone calls. You can easily leave the phone in your pocket and don’t have to peek to see who is calling, just take it out if you want to answer it.

Final Words

All in all, this is the latest technology which is very convenient for all the folks who want wireless things and to keep up with the trend. Air Pods doesn’t have any screen or tangible buttons but it is designed in such a way that gives a crystal clear sound quality whenever you are listening to music or talking to someone on the phone.

Setup of the Air Pods is very easy and once your Air Pods are connected to one of your Apple devices associated with iCloud, it will automatically detect every iOS device like iMac, apple watch, etc.
