You will agree with me if I say that people use only a few apps in their mobiles. Rests of the apps are just a nuisance obstructing the view and giving a cluttered look to the screen. There are so many apps that I don’t want on my mobile but they come shipped with it. The worst part is that I am unable to uninstall or delete them. So what to do about them? Make them disappear from view? How? Well, hide apps in Android. Yes you read it right “hide them”.
If you haven’t thought about this, then this write-up is just for you. I will discuss some simple ways to hide apps from an Android phone. Just read along to know how easily you can make your mobile more organized and easy to use.
Clean up your home screen- remove unwanted apps
The home screen is the most-used section of every mobile and keeping it accessible for commonly used apps is the trick. First, you need to identify which apps are just sitting there idly. Once you identify the culprits, press on one of them for a second or two. A few options will appear before you. One of them is “Remove it from your home screen”.
Select this option and say bye to the unwanted app from the home screen. Repeat this with the rest of apps that you wish not to see whenever you open your mobile. Don’t worry, the app is not deleted permanently or uninstalled. It’s just disappeared from your main screen, it’s there in the app tray. You can recall it back anytime
Move to a folder
Another harmless way to hide useless apps is to move them to a folder. This folder will be just like a dumping basket. You can recall the hidden apps anytime you like! A folder can be created by selecting one app and moving it on to another app. Both apps will make a folder. Once this happens, you can keep on adding more unwanted apps to this folder.
Tap and hold an app and drag it on top of the second unwanted app. You will see a folder with two apps that you wanted to delete. Check them if you have moved the right app. If you have moved a useful app to a folder you can drag it back to delete the folder.
See! How easy it is to hide away the irritating apps in one location that you can manipulate as a single unit. Change the name of this folder to give it a name of your choice and which tells that this is your mobile’s dumping ground maybe like ‘My Junkyard‘.
Don’t Hide- Disable it
Sometimes you don’t even want notification of an app. You simply want it not to work, but not sure that you want to uninstall it. In case of such confusion, the best option is to disable it. A disabled app will not be in “execution”. It will be just sitting their silently without disturbing you. There are two methods for this.
- Tap on the app for a few seconds so that a box of options appears for the app. Select the disable option and you are sorted.
- In the second method open “Settings” and go to the “Apps” option. From the list that appeared, scroll down to find your annoying app. Select the option “Disable”.
You will get a warning message like this. Select disable if you are sure that you can do without this app else skip by tapping on Cancel button.
As soon as you tap on “Disable” Your app disappears from your home screen.
The disabled apps remain in Settings->Apps. If you want to use it, open settings->Apps and select the “Enable” button in front of the app. It will reappear at the last tray of apps. You can move it to the place of your comfort in the home screen.
