What is HomePod?
It is a specially designed speaker which supports Siri for direct access to Apple Music and HomeKit-enabled devices. You can play music, make phone calls and control HomeKit-enabled devices. It is 7 inches tall and offers great sound quality to the extent that even if you place it in the corner of any room; you can listen to the music clearly. It is built with Siri inside so that you can play Apple tunes anytime.
How to Set up your HomePod with iPhone or iPad?
You will need an iOS device with the latest update to connect both devices. Before going ahead, you should ensure that iCloud Keychain, authentication (two-factor) security feature is enabled on the devices.
Step 1. Hold your iPhone or iPad close to your HomePod.
Step 2: A small HomePod will appear on your screen just like Air Pods appear on iPhone. Select “Setup“.
Step 3: Next, you will be asked the question “where is the HomePod”? You just have to choose HomeKit.
Step 4: Next step is to allow the personal requests asked by HomePod. You can tap on “enable personal requests” if you want your HomePod to read out all the texts and reminders when you are connected to the internet. If not, then you can tap on “not now“.
Step 5. To agree with the terms and conditions, select “agree”.
Step 6. Tap on “transfer settings“.
Step 7. Now, enter the Apple ID if prompted.
Step 8: Finally you may ask Siri to start playing a song for you and get started.
How to Setup your HomePod with Apple TV?
A HomePod is a perfect speaker which can connect to Apple TV through AirPlay connectivity. If you want to enhance the sound level of your Apple TV, you can use HomePod as a soundbar as well. You can’t directly connect HomePod to Apple TV, to do that, you have to connect HomePod to your iPhone first and complete the setup. For a successful connection, you need to have a compatible Apple TV which should be at least of 4th generation.
Move to the Home screen of Apple TV and follow the steps below.
Step 1. Navigate to “settings” on Apple TV.
Step 2. Tap Video & Audio.
Step 3. Tap Audio output.
Step 4. Now under “other speakers”, select the HomePod that you are using.
How to Control Video Playback Using Siri?
Use Siri to control the Video playback on Apple TV, once you are done setting it up.
Play/pause. You can ask Siri to play and pause any track.
Skip/rewind: You can ask Siri to skip a song or rewind a minute of the song.
