How to Increase Productivity by Installing Gmail Add-ons

We all have heard about Chrome extensions which help in enhancing the productivity at work. Gmail has also added some great add-ons to increase the workflow output. Extensions or add-ons increase the functionality of any software and Gmail has rightly allowed third-party developers to integrate their productivity apps as add-ons in Gmail. Till now, it has added add-ons related to businesses, productivity, and communication but they are planning to add some other useful add-on for education and utility tools.

Installation Steps

Login to your Gmail account. Now click on the settings icon and from the drop-down list that opens, click on the option that says “Get add-ons”.

On the next screen, you will be able to see all the available add-ons in Gmail. You can sort or search the add-ons according to the categories listed in the left sidebar menu.

The installation process of add-ons is quite simple. Select any add-on from the list and click on it to start the installation. In the first screen, the add-on will ask for your permission for setup. Click on “continue” to proceed further.

Next, the add-on will ask you to select the Gmail account with which you would like to integrate the add-on with. In the next step, the add-on will ask your permission to access your information based on the type of add-on you have selected. Click allow and that’s it. Your favorite add-on is installed.

You can use the Gmail add-on by opening any mail from the inbox and on the right side, you will see the icon of the add-on you have just installed. Click on it and start using its features.

Increase productivity with Gmail Add-ons.

There are a number of productivity tools to pick from Google’s GSuite marketplace. I have shortlisted some of these add-ons which can help you to use Gmail in a more productive way.

  • DocuSign. This is one of the best e-signature tools that lets you sign an unlimited number of documents for free. The electronic signatures are fully encrypted for enhanced security. Use this add-on for a secured and on-the-go solution. This is the best way to communicate securely and safely.
  • Mail Merge. With this wonderful add-on, you can send personalized emails to your contacts without assigning CC or BCC to them. You can attach different attachments for various recipients. No need to create individual emails.
  • Trello. It creates a collaboration board where your team members can share files, discuss their ideas on a project and provide suggestions for better teamwork. You can set reminders, attach google drive files and create lists for a smoother workflow.
  • Boomerang. Most of the time when we are in a hurry, we just open the mail inbox and check the mail and close it. While browsing we often make a note in mind to return back and reply to an important mail later, but forget. ‘Boomrang’ing an email will help you in getting reminders for such urgent emails to reply back since it brings it to the top of received mail according to the specified time. It is an awesome feature of Gmail that will never let you miss an utterly important mail by suggesting a timely action.
