Google has launched Ad control settings recently to make the user experience less offensive. It will help some users to stop gambling and alcohol ads on YouTube. The new experience has been rolled out in “Beta for YouTube” in the US. Google Ads will see the changes later and both platforms will experience rollout. It is important to stop this kind of ad because it violates YouTube’s safety and privacy policy. Here, we will explain to you how to turn on this feature into account.
Stop Gambling and Alcohol ads on Google and YouTube
Offensive ads cause disturbance to many, hence Google’s policy in this scenario is a welcome move. This article will show readers how to enable the feature in a couple of clicks.
It is necessary to remember that the feature is currently available in YouTube ads and is still in the beta version. Google has announced that it will be available to Google Ads on cross-platform soon. Now let’s get into the trick to stop gambling and alcohol ads on YouTube for good.
- First of all, open the browser and sign in to the Google account page and go to “Ad Setting” page. At the top right corner, there is a toggle for “Ad Personalisation“. Here, one should remember that the Ad Personalisation toggle is always on by default. Moreover, it needs to stay in a manner that one can turn off “vice ads”.
- Now scroll down and find “Ad categories on YouTube”. Click on “See fewer” options on the gambling and alcohol category. Press on confirm if something pops up.
- That’s it. Gambling and alcohol ads are successfully muted now on YouTube. From now on, there will be no disturbance. The settings will be the same as it is until one changes the mind to switch it on.
Refrain Google from Showing Vice Ads on other Websites including YouTube
Note that this service is only available in the beta version of YouTube. Only a few users can avail of this opportunity. Google has announced that this facility will be available to everyone through the cross-platform in 2021. It will give users the freedom to control which ads they want to see on YouTube and different Google platforms.
Jo says
Doesn’t work
Unchecking ad personalisation simply allows Youtube to send anything they want.
They claim by having ad personalisation you can “control” the ads you get
But you can’t get rid of them
I have had full page ads open each time I turn my phone on. With Youtube disabled. With Ad blockers. They don;lt work.
It is just full blown harrassment by Google.
