WhatsApp is all set to bring a new change in its privacy feature by restricting the feature of auto-saving media from a chat that has disappearing messages enabled.
WhatsApp had rolled out the feature of disappearing messages last year. The aim of this feature was to provide more control to the users over their messages. But the feature of auto-saving media made the function of disappearing messages a bit patchy.
However, this new announcement by WhatsApp to turn this auto-saving feature off has rectified the previous patch making the feature more useful. This change was noticed by WABetainfo and is likely to be welcomed by the users who depend on the disappearing messages feature to share sensitive media in the chats.
This feature will be launched for both Android and iOS users.
How to Save Photos and Videos Even After This New Update
Even after this update gets rolled out, users can still manually save the photos and videos from the chats having the disappearing messages feature enabled. Thus, this feature by WhatsApp is still not foolproof.
Also, users can take a screenshot of the chat thread. Doing this can potentially save the chats for the recipient even after the messages get disappeared. This issue could have been resolved by alerting the message senders whenever the recipient takes screenshots of the chat threads.
Future Scope For Improvements
There is still some scope for improvement available in this new feature that is concerned with users’ privacy on which WhatsApp might be surely working and might come up with effective changes in the near future.
Till then, wait for this new change to be launched on your app stores from where you can update your current Whatsapp application and enjoy this update.
