WhatsApp’s New Features Revealed: Spotted to be Testing In Beta Versions

Last Updated April 13, 2022 By Subhash D Leave a Comment

Being one of the best instant messaging apps, WhatsApp always strives to get better with new improvements and features. So, this time according to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is spotted testing two new features in its beta version.

ETA for Document Files

The first feature would let the users view the ETA i.e., the estimated time of arrival of the document files while sharing them through the app. This feature would be really exciting and helpful to use as up until now, for every shared file, be it a JPEG, PDF, JPEG, DOC, etc., the users could only see a loader that gives an estimate of the time needed to upload or download that file. But this new feature would let the users get a better idea, especially while sharing files of large-size on WhatsApp.

As per the reports by WABetaInfo, this new feature is spotted to be in beta testing for iOS, Android, and Web users. To be precise with the beta versions, this feature was found in the following beta versions:

  • 22.8.0.74 on iOS
  • 2.22.8.11 on Android, and
  • 2.2209.3 on Desktop

A screenshot has been also shared by the report in which an ETA label can be seen below the file name. It will also contain a percentage status showing the progress in the uploading of any file while sharing. As of now, Whatsapp only allows files of a maximum size of 16MB to be shared in the chats. But the feature to take this limit to 2GB is also in testing.

New Drawing Tool

Whatsapp is also testing a new drawing tool on its beta version for iOS. Two new pencils are included in the new drawing tool that is applicable over the marker present by default. The blur tool that is currently available only in the iOS version of WhatsApp has been also moved to the bottom bar alongside the two new pencils.

However, the exact details about the public release of the new drawing tools and ETA features are still awaited.
